Bread for the World and Bread for the World Institute are committed to the highest levels of financial efficiency and accountability. Each organization is audited annually by an independent auditor and has received very favorable ratings from the following organizations.

The American Institute of Philanthropy, a nationally prominent charity watchdog service, ranks Bread for the World and Bread for the World Institute as top-rated charities in the country.

The Better Business Bureau Wise Giving Alliance names Bread for the World Institute as a BBB accredited charity that meets all 20 Standards for Charity Accountability. Unlike other charity monitoring groups that focus solely on a review of charity finances, the BBB Wise Giving Alliance completes comprehensive, in-depth evaluations of the charity's governance, fundraising practices, solicitations, and informational materials, as well as how it spends its money.

Charity Navigator awarded Bread for the World Institute its highest rating of four stars, indicating that the Institute "outperforms the majority of nonprofits in America with respect to fiscal responsibility. This 'exceptional' designation from Charity Navigator differentiates Bread for the World Institute from its peers and demonstrates to the public it is worthy of their trust."

In addition, Bread for the World Institute received the Independent Charities Seal of Excellence, awarded to members of Independent Charities of America that have been able "to certify, document, and demonstrate on an annual basis that they meet the highest standards of public accountability, program effectiveness, and cost effectiveness."
