Central Southern Organizer
Bread for the World, a grassroots, faith-based, advocacy organization on hunger and poverty, seeks a Central Southern Organizer for the states of Texas, Oklahoma and Arkansas. This person will be responsible for building, motivating, informing and organizing an effective grassroots network for Bread in these states; will speak and preach before groups; do media interviews; meet with Bread, denominational and organizational leaders; organize and lead training workshops; support volunteer leaders; and plan and implement membership growth projects with special efforts to broaden the diversity of the movement.
Must have at least 3 years of previous grassroots organizing experience, strong group leadership and public speaking skills, knowledge of U.S. and international hunger and poverty issues, expertise in public policy advocacy, broad Christian theological knowledge, and the ability to travel 8-10 weeks a year for fieldwork. English language fluency is required; bilingual in English and Spanish is highly desirable. This position is based in Austin, TX.
