A Fasting Prayer: O God, help us to feed our sisters and brothers

July 21, 2017
Join Bread for the World in prayer to end hunger

Editor’s note: Until the end of the 115th Congress, Bread for the World and its partners will be praying and fasting, as part of the For Such a Time as This: A Call to Prayer, Fasting, and Advocacy project, to ensure that lawmakers protect vital programs for people who struggle with hunger

Holy God.

Draw near to me. Draw near and help me see that your love and mercy will conquer whatever challenges lay ahead. O God, help us to feed our sisters and brothers who are hungry. Grant us that as a nation, we may work to end famine and invest in international development assistance for the future all God’s children.

Draw near to Congress and the president, O God. Help them to make wise choices that we may care for people in need, especially in countries suffering from famine and near-famine conditions.

Draw near to us, O God for your love is from everlasting to everlasting and in you we find peace.

Amen.
