Generating local media attention is one of the most powerful ways to make hunger an election issue.

political rally

With newspapers, radio talk shows and the nightly news saturated with election coverage, there are limitless opportunities to join the conversation about what’s important to you.

As part of the Bread’s Election Action Team Against Hunger, you don’t have to be an expert on global hunger or a registered lobbyist to tell local media that hunger is an election issue. You just have to be a concerned citizen who wants your decision-makers to accept the challenge to end hunger and extreme poverty, here at home and abroad.

From approaching reporters at town hall meetings to calling in to radio talk shows to writing letters to the editor, you can multiply the reach and power of your message: for most Americans, hunger is an election issue; for people of faith, hunger is a moral issue.

Sharing that message to local journalists is not rocket science, and Bread for the World is here to help. In addition to the tips for working with media
on Bread’s Web site, you can contact Bread’s media staff Shawnda Hines or Bill Malone.
Below are resources you can share with journalists.
