The Hunger Justice Leaders training will take place at Catholic University of America
, at 620 Michigan Avenue, NE, Washington, DC, 20064. When you arrive on campus, please go directly to Caldwell Hall for check-in and registration.
You must arrive at Catholic University by 3:30 pm on Saturday, June 14. The program will start promptly at 4 pm on June 14, and end at 8 pm on Tuesday, June 17. You may leave the program anytime after 8 pm Tuesday. You are welcome to stay through Wednesday, June 18, if your travel arrangements require it.
You can travel to Washington, DC, by airplane, train, bus, or drive your own car. All travel arrangements should be completed by Friday, May 9. You will be fully responsible for any ticket costs or penalties if you cancel or withdraw from the program after May 9.

By Airplane, Train or Bus
Bread for the World will cover your round-trip tickets from your hometown to Washington, D.C. We have appointed MTS Travel to make your arrangements. Please contact one of these representatives and identify yourself as a Bread for the World Hunger Justice Leader. They will work with you to purchase tickets and email you the itinerary.
By Car
Bread for the World will give you a point-to-point mileage reimbursement at $0.505 per mile (based on March 2008 federal GSA rate). You will be provided with a parking pass for Catholic University at registration. Please indicate in the Participant Profile form if you will be driving and need a parking pass.
Getting to Catholic University from the Airport or Station
Rental cars, taxis, and mass transit systems are all available to whisk you to Catholic University.
Reagan National Airport (DCA): This is the closest airport to Catholic University.
Washington DC's subway system – called Metro – is the fastest and easiest way to reach campus. You can find the metro station at the airport outside baggage claim. Take the Yellow Line in the direction of Fort Totten and disembark at the Gallery Pl-Chinatown station. Here you will walk upstairs to the Red Line train in the direction of Glenmont station. Get off at the Brookland-CUA Station. This station is directly across the street from Catholic University. Travel time is approximately 30 minutes. The cost is $1.85 off peak, and $2.75 at peak. Please use Metro, if at all possible.
Taxis from Reagan National Airport to Catholic University cost approximately $20. and will take approximately 20 minutes.
Super Shuttle is available outside baggage claim near the taxi stand. It will cost $12 per person. The time will vary greatly depending on the number of passengers and their destinations.
Washington Flyer shuttles leave every 30 minutes from Dulles International Airport to the West Falls Church Metro station. Take the Orange Line toward New Carrolton and disembark at Metro Center. Walk upstairs to find the Red Line train toward Glenmont. Get off at the Brookland-CUA Station. This station is directly across the street from Catholic University. he trip is around 70 minutes and will cost approximately $14.00 (Washington Flyer is $9, plus metro fare). Please use this method, if at all possible.
Taxis from Dulles to Catholic University cost approximately $50 and will take approximately 50 minutes.
Super Shuttle is available outside the main terminal. The price is approximately $33 and travel time is around 1 hour.
Amtrak trains running just outside BWI can take you to Union Station in Washington, DC. Amtrak provides a free bus shuttle from each terminal to the BWI Train Station. Once you arrive in Union Station, walk downstairs to the Metro station. Take the Red Line in the direction of Glenmont. Get off at the Brookland-CUA Station. This station is directly across the street from Catholic University. Travel time is approximately 70 minutes and will cost approximately $20.
Taxis from Baltimore/Washington Airport to Catholic University cost approximately $75 and will take about 45 minutes.
Super Shuttle is available outside the main terminal. The price is approximately $35 and will take about 45 minutes.
Union Station
Walk downstairs to the Metro station. Take the Red Line in the direction of Glenmont. Get off at the Brookland-CUA Station. This station is directly across the street from Catholic University. Travel time is approximately 20 minutes and will cost approximately $1.35. Please us Metro, if at all possible.
Taxis from Union Station to Catholic University will cost approximately $12 and take about 20 minutes.
Driving to Catholic University
For the best driving direction please use MapQuest or Google map to plot the best route. You should enter the University campus from the Main Entrance to the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception at 4th street and Michigan Avenue. As you enter the circle take the 2nd right on to campus. The Basilica will be on your left. At the stop sign, the front circle of Caldwell is directly in front of you. As indicated on the map, the McMahon parking lot is adjacent to Caldwell and you can park there. Download a map of the campus.
Check-in and registration will be at the Caldwell Hall across from the McMahon Parking Lot.
