Preventing Food Waste Could Feed the Hungry

As a child my family would often go camping. One of the things my dad taught us was to leave the campground as clean as we found it. We were to be good stewards of God's creation.
My mother cared about not wasting food. She expected us to eat everything on our plates. Rarely ever was food thrown out.
My dad was born during the great depression and started working at 8 years old as a sharecropper picking cotton on a farm. So my parents set an example for me in terms of being frugal spenders.
This photo of statistics in the London Daily Telegraph shows that large amounts of food go to waste.
Some Christians are committed to fighting this waste and ending world hunger. The organization Bread for the World is holding its national convention in Washington D.C. June 8-11. The theme of this year's event is "A Place at the Table."
