If they voted in favor of the fiscal cliff deal, call and thank them. If not, tell them you are disappointed.
Then, urge your senators and representative to protect hungry and poor people in the next round of budget decisions. Tell them that any legislation to replace or modify the scheduled across-the-board cuts and enact a FY2014 budget should do the following:
- Protect funding for programs that feed hungry people and help move people out of poverty
- Balance spending cuts with new revenues so we can put the country on a sustainable path while maintaining our commitment to ending hunger and poverty
- Avoid shifting scheduled defense cuts to programs that help hungry and poor people
