Act Now: Tell Congress to Pass a Responsible Budget

October 2013

Congress has been moving from one manufactured crisis to the next. It’s time to stop the budget brinksmanship and pass a responsible budget that protects those most in need. In addition to the budget battle that resulted in the U.S. government shutdown and the continuing harmful cuts of sequestration, the United States is expected to hit its credit limit, the debt ceiling, on Oct. 17. Congress must resolve these issues.
Tell your senators and representatives to

  1. Pass a budget that adequately funds programs serving poor and vulnerable populations,
  2. Replace sequestration with a balanced approach that includes revenues and responsible spending cuts ; and
  3. Raise the debt ceiling without political games.

Telephone calls to the Capitol switchboard (800-826-3688) may not go through during the shutdown, but you can still email Congress today. Urge your members of Congress to pass a responsible budget that addresses sequestration and to raise the debt ceiling without political games.
