A prayer for the grieving in Uvalde, Texas

1 MIN READ

Lord in your mercy.

Christ in your mercy.

Lord in your mercy.

Hear our prayer.

Today, we grieve the loss of so many children and staff of Robb Elementary School.

We stand with the families and communities of:

Uvalde
Dallas
Laguna Woods
Buffalo
The streets of our cities

We pray for communities that have experienced violence as they are traumatized yet again.
May we bear witness to their pain.
May their voices be heard.
May their wounds be tended with the balm of your love.

We pray for our lawmakers. Move and stir their hearts to lead with deep empathy. Rather than partisan politics, convict our leaders to prioritize the mental, emotional, and physical well-being of those they serve—including and especially our children.

We pray for our nation as we learn of yet another tragedy this month. It is tragedy upon tragedy and our hearts are overloaded. Help us to both guard our hearts and to keep them open so that we might find ways to do our part in bringing to life the world you’ve promised in the resurrection of your child, Jesus Christ, in whose name we pray.

Lord in your mercy.

Christ in your mercy.

Lord in your mercy.

Amen.
