There is a lot of excitement and anticipation around Pope Francis’ visit to our nation, and Bread has organized several big activities around his visit. Bread is especially excited that his first stop in the U.S. is in the city of Bread’s main office – Washington, D.C. The pontiff’s message resonates so well with the vision and mission of Bread. Below is a prayer for this kairos moment – a time appointed by God to do a special work.

Dear God:

We praise your holy name, and we come before you with thanksgiving.

Thank you for your love and abundant grace.

Thank you for the privilege to serve you as witnesses of your love, compassion, and spirit of service.

We thank you for Pope Francis and how he has been an instrument to share your message of hope and justice for those who are struggling with hunger, poverty, and the marginalized.

We thank you for the way he has brought the attention of the world to care for these very precious children in your eyes who have been deprived of the opportunity to have nutritious food, shelter, jobs, education, and health.

We pray that this week becomes a special moment in which the Holy Spirit draws near to do special work in and through Pope Francis.

We pray that you use him to deliver a prophetic message that moves the hearts and minds of our nation’s leaders, the leaders of the world, families and individuals alike to end hunger and poverty.

We pray for these things as we commit ourselves to serve you by serving our neighbors.

We pray these things in the precious name of Jesus. Amen.
