We did it! The Senate’s attempt to repeal the Affordable Care Act has failed, with 51 senators voting NO on the “skinny repeal” early this morning.
This is wonderful news — especially for those who need Medicaid the most. Millions of Americans stood to lose Medicaid if this bill had passed. But because of your persistent advocacy, people in need will continue to have lifesaving care.
I am so grateful for your efforts. You and your fellow advocates made thousands of phone calls and sent thousands of emails to Congress. You also set up meetings, showed up at town halls, and shared stories that let your members of Congress know who among us stood to lose the most from cuts to Medicaid.
And all of it worked! Three votes defeated this bill. We hope that Congress will now work together on a bipartisan bill that protects Medicaid and ensures all Americans receive the affordable health care coverage they need.
Together, our collective Christian voice can move mountains. Thank you for putting your faith into action time and time again. And thanks be to God, who guided us in this effort.
