Thanks to your hard work putting in calls and emails, the House of Representatives is expected to vote on the Global Food Security Act (H.R. 1567) tomorrow!

This act would make the Feed the Future initiative permanent. It would help to improve the livelihoods of smallholder farmers, strengthen maternal and child nutrition, and build capacity for long-term agricultural growth around the world. It would put in place a strategy for the U.S. government to help hungry nations to develop smart, long-term agriculture programs and to ensure these nations independently meet the nutrition needs of their people.

Through the Global Food Security Act, we have an opportunity to improve the food security and nutrition for millions of people around the world. Tomorrow’s vote gets us one step closer to accomplishing this goal. Call (800-826-3688) or email your representative or senators. Urge them to pass the Global Food Security Act (H.R. 1567).

Let Congress know that in a world in which 795 million people — one in every nine — grapple with hunger on a daily basis, U.S. leadership is vital in the fight against hunger, malnutrition, and extreme poverty over the long-term. This legislation is the next step to overcoming this challenge.
