Bread for the World Condemns Shooting of U.S. Congressman and Staff

Washington, D.C. – Bread for the World today condemns the shooting of House Majority Whip Steve Scalise (R-La.) and others, including two law enforcement officers and a congressional aide of U.S. Rep. Roger Williams (R-Texas)

The following statement can be attributed to Rev. David Beckmann, president of Bread for the World:

“Bread for the World condemns the shooting of House Majority Whip Steve Scalise, Zack Barth, an aide of Rep. Roger Williams, and the other victims of today’s mass shooting in Alexandria, Va. We pray for quick and full recovery of the victims, and for their families.

“Violence is never a solution to our problems. We must all act with civility, recognizing that all of us wants to do what is best for our country.”
