Bread Applauds Nomination of Ambassador Power for USAID Administrator

Washington, D.C. – Bread for the World today released the following statement on the nomination of Samantha Power for administrator for the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID):

“Bread for the World applauds President-elect Biden for nominating Ambassador Samantha Power for USAID administrator and for elevating the position to the White House National Security Council. Elevating the USAID administrator position to the National Security Council is a recognition of the importance development assistance is to our national security.

“With hunger and malnutrition continuing to surge globally because of COVID-19 it is critical the Senate move quickly to confirm her. Ambassador Power’s experience, idealism, and faith make her an ideal candidate to lead the agency and we look forward to working with Ambassador Power and USAID in the coming months and years.”
