Christopher S. Ljungquist

Bio

Christopher S. Ljungquist is Director of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops’ (USCCB) Office of International Justice and Peace (IJP), which serves the bishops’ Committee on International Justice and Peace. He advises the bishops on international policy and leads staff efforts in support of advancing the social mission of the Church on international justice and peace through policy development, advocacy, education, outreach, and acts of ecclesial solidarity.

Before his appointment as director in 2024, Christopher served as the Research and Policy Adviser for IJP’s Latin America portfolio. Before that, Christopher worked in political and security risk consulting in the private sector, focusing on Central America, Colombia, and Venezuela.

Ljungquist has a B.A. in Latin America Area Studies from The American University in Washington, DC, and an M.Sc. in Comparative Politics Latin America from the London School of Economics. He is a Knight of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulcher of Jerusalem. He is Catholic. Washington, DC.
