Rick Rowden is an expert on foreign aid, trade, and development policy in developing countries, with over two decades of professional experience working with international development non-governmental organizations (NGOs), United Nations agencies, and in academia. His areas of expertise are needed reforms to the global trade and financial architecture and the emerging field of South-South economic relations among developing countries. He is the author of India-Africa Economic Relations in the New Global Economy (Routledge, 2025). Previously he worked for NGOs such as ActionAid and Global Financial Integrity, for the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) in Geneva and taught in the School of International Service (SIS) at American University in Washington DC. He has consulted for NGOs including Oxfam, ActionAid, the European Network on Debt and Development (Eurodad), and the Center for Economic and Social Rights (CESR), and for UN agencies including the World Health Organization (WHO), United Nations Development Program (UNDP), and the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR).
