Bio
Sakeenah Shabazz is the Deputy Director of Policy and Research Institute (PRI). Prior to this role, she served as an appointed Senior Policy Advisor at the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Food and Nutrition Service (FNS). Before joining USDA, Sakeenah served as Policy Director at Berkeley Food Institute, Senior Program Associate at the Congressional Hunger Center, and Program Associate at D.C. Hunger Solutions. She is also an alum of the 23rd class of the Emerson National Hunger Fellowship and City Year – Seattle/King County. She earned a Master of Public Policy (MPP) degree from UC Berkeley and a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy from Georgetown University. She is originally from San Diego, CA and resides in Washington, D.C.

Sakeenah Shabazz brings a deep understanding of food and nutrition policy and is able to make it accessible to any audience, whether lecturing on food systems in a university setting or addressing Bread for the World activists about the intersections of American agriculture, federal nutrition programs and hunger.
