Washington, D.C., February 2, 2023 – Bread for the World has named Abiola Afolayan and Jordan Teague co-directors of its Policy and Research Institute department. Afolayan and Teague will lead Bread’s policy research and analysis on domestic and international hunger and the development of strategies to end it. Both previously served in leadership positions within the department.

Their expertise around complex and varied issues affecting hunger and their commitment for Bread and their colleagues have convinced me that they will lead with integrity, vision, and innovation,” said Rev. Eugene Cho, president and CEO of Bread for the World and Bread for the World Institute.
Afolayan brings to the position a background in international development, policy, law, academia, and women’s empowerment. She was previously an adjunct professor at George Washington University’s Elliott School of International Affairs and has lectured at Temple University School of Law in Rome. Prior to that, Afolayan worked at the World Food Programme in Rome and was an advisor for foreign affairs and women’s issues for a senior member of the U.S. Congress. Afolayan is licensed to practice law in California and is an active member of the American Bar Association.
Teague has worked extensively at Bread on policy analysis and advocacy to influence the U.S. government’s foreign assistance programs on hunger and malnutrition. Previously, Teague was a lecturer at George Washington University’s Milken Institute School of Public Health and served as associate director for WASH Integration at WASH Advocates, a nonprofit, nonpartisan advocacy initiative dedicated to helping solve the global safe drinking water, sanitation, and hygiene challenge.
