Legislation to reauthorize child nutrition programs is moving! Thanks in part to the constant advocacy of Bread for the World members, child nutrition reauthorization is one of the first things moving in Congress this year. We need your voice to ensure the final bill improves access to meals for hungry children across the country.

The Senate Agriculture committee will mark up a child nutrition reauthorization bill tomorrow. Residents of states whose senators sit on that committee (see list of committee members below) are urged to call (800/826-3688) or email their senator today and urge him/her to pass a child nutrition bill that:

  1. continues strong investments in child nutrition programs
  2. connects more children with healthy meals
  3. does not cut other safety-net programs to pay for the bill

This is a real opportunity to improve these programs so they can reach more young children at risk of hunger – an opportunity we won’t have for another five years!

Call (800/826-3688) or email your senator today. Tell him/her to ensure all children have the nutritious meals they need to learn and grow.
