Prayer for Advocacy Summit

Join us in praying for the participants in Bread for the World’s 2025 Advocacy Summit: Nourish Our Future.

We are grateful for Khanya Vezile, our spring intern for spiritual formation and wellness, for writing this installment of Prayers to End Hunger.

Religion that is pure and undefiled before God the Father is this: to care for orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself unstained by the world.

Reflection: 

Meet Bonita Thomas, an inspiring advocate and dedicated mother who attended last year’s Advocacy Summit. Bonita began her journey fighting for her son’s rights, and her personal experiences with the SNAP system’s challenges and witnessing families lose benefits have fueled her commitment to support low-income families and address food insecurity.

Prayer:

God, we thank you for the opportunity to learn how to advocate for others at the Advocacy Summit. We thank You that You call us to fight to end hunger and to care for those who are in need in this world. We pray that You would open our hearts and our minds to learn more about how we can care for the orphans, widows, and differently abled, among others. Lord, teach us to show our pure faith in action as we meet our representatives and grow in our skills so that we can end hunger and poverty. God, we ask Your Holy Spirit, the Advocate, to strengthen us and our brothers and sisters as we advocate. We cannot do any of this without You guiding us and leading us.  In Jesus’ name. Amen.
