Loving God,
As in the days of old, our nation is full with pride, excess of food, and prosperous ease, yet, not willing to aid people struggling with hunger and poverty.
You know the plight of women, children, and men who struggle with hunger in our nation and around the world.
We know that your eyes are on the most vulnerable in our midst and your ears are open to their cry.
Make them an instrument of your peace, to be a stronghold to the most affected in their distress.
Help them to be near, and with the brokenhearted, and to share hope with the crushed in spirit.
Let the treasure of their heart be filled with an abundant love for their neighbor that reflects how much they love you.
As you did with the prophets of old, empower them with your Spirit to go through the halls of Congress, and call on them to act with justice and righteousness, and deliver from the hand of greed and oppression those who have been robbed of the opportunity to flourish.
Do not quench in them the hunger for justice and righteousness until women and children around the world can have access to nutritious food and “hunger no more.”
