Join the Bread for the World community in praying together
This is a special edition of Bread for the World’s Prayers to End Hunger series that invites our larger community to join in prayer for all who experience hunger because of the conflict in Iran. Sign up today to join Bread’s Prayers to End Hunger series on a regular basis.
Dear Friend,
As Christians committed to ending hunger, we watch with heavy hearts as war begins in Iran. While people may process the situation in different ways and from different perspectives, we know that ultimately, conflict is a significant driver of hunger. War threatens families, destabilizes communities, and deepens already fragile conditions. Scripture reminds us that we are not indifferent observers. “If one part suffers, every part suffers with it.” We belong to a global body. When human life is taken, when children go to bed hungry, when families are displaced, we pray because these are our neighbors—image-bearers of God.
Thank you for joining us in prayer.

Prince of Peace,
We come before You grieving the war unfolding in Iran and the instability spreading across the region. You see every frightened child, every grieving parent, every life lost, every exhausted humanitarian worker, and every leader carrying the burden of decision.
Have mercy, O God.
We pray for all people in the Middle East region and all who have endured repression and uncertainty. Protect them in this hour. Strengthen those who seek justice and peace. Sustain families who are anxious and afraid.
We pray for lawmakers and government leaders—in the United States and around the world. Grant them wisdom beyond politics, courage beyond partisanship, and a deep commitment to protecting human life. Guide their decisions toward de-escalation, justice, and lasting peace.
We pray for those serving in our armed forces. Protect them from harm. Bring them safely home to their families. Grant them clarity in complex circumstances and surround them with Your peace.
Restrain violence. Open humanitarian corridors to deliver food and aid. Protect the innocent. Comfort those who are displaced. Where hatred grows, plant compassion. Where despair takes root, sow hope.
And for us—grant clarity of mind, tenderness of heart, and courage of conviction. Keep us faithful to Your call to feed those who are hungry, advocate for those who are vulnerable, and seek the peace of the nations.
As we yearn and pray for peace, make us instruments of Your peace in a wounded world.
In the name of Christ our Lord. Amen.
