As the people of Venezuela continue to recover from a devastating earthquake, we remember lives lost, an already challenging economy further stalled, and the increase in hunger that often follows a disaster. We pray for the people of Venezuela, for governing officials, emerging leaders, and for response teams from around the world.
Let us pray.
God of compassion and mercy,
We come to you today holding the people of Venezuela in our hearts. We pray for all who have survived the earthquake, for the loved ones who are still missing, and for those who have died in the rubble. We pray for those who are faced with the daunting task of rebuilding their lives, their homes, their houses of worship, and their businesses.
We pray for governing leaders that they would be inspired by your love and grace to care for all who suffer at this time. We pray that they prioritize those who are in greatest need.
We pray for local leaders working to rebuild and for those traveling to Venezuela with expertise and compassion to respond to this crisis. May cooperation drive the response so that communities can rebuild stronger.
With infrastructure damage, food and water become more and more scarce. We pray for those who face hunger now and in the coming days and weeks. May relief efforts be successful in reaching all who hunger and thirst.
God, we do not understand why these things happen. But we recognize the opportunity to show your love in the world. Move us by your grace to hold our neighbors in prayer and to help as we are able.
We pray this in Jesus’ strong name.
Amen.
